Outdoor Pools: Duke Faculty Club, Hollow Rock Swim Club, Hope Valley Country Club
Indoor Pools: Edison Johnson, NCCU, Duke Brodie, Sportsplex
Instructors
Volunteer faqs:
Instructors do not have to be WSI or lifeguard certified. They just need a love of the water and have a willingness to teach our students skills based on our SFC training course.
No minimum age requirement for volunteers
Instructors are required to compete specific course training provided by SFC in person
Instructors are required to have background checks and pass; Through the school systems and the universities where they wish to volunteer.
If volunteering at a university
An additional training module is also required (in addition to the SFC training course).
Session faqs:
Each swim session is two weeks in duration
Our sessions at the pool run the academic calendar year for DPS and OCS
Our sessions at the pool are typically Mon-Thurs. Some weeks there may be a session on a Friday if the school system has a teacher workday or a holiday in any given week.
Our sessions in Durham pools are from approximately 9:45am-12:15pm each day.
Our sessions at the Hillsborough Sportsplex are from approximately 10:45am-1:15pm
